Watch the Video Here: Road Runner Quilt
I've been making quilts for my friend Carol for many years. Over time, I’ve not only made quilts for her friends and but even her grandchildren. This year, Carol asked if I could create a special quilt for her grandson—a car-themed quilt to match the theme of his room, which is decked out with license plates, motor oil signs, and engine oil memorabilia. To get inspired, I went online and stumbled upon an absolutely amazing car quilt called “Road Runner,” designed by the talented Joanne Loh.
Joanne offers a fantastic collection of free patterns on her website, covering everything from sewing and crochet to knitting and other fun crafts, so there’s something for every creative spirit. The "Road Runner" quilt pattern is just one standout among many. What impressed me most was how thoroughly the pattern was put together—the packet includes beautifully drawn applique pieces, making it super easy to work with. Plus, there’s a separate download with detailed step-by-step instructions on how to piece the quilt together.
While I didn’t follow the directions exactly to the letter, they’re incredibly clear and helpful, especially if you’re new to this kind of design challenge. So, huge thanks to Joanne for sharing such a wonderful resource! I highly recommend checking out her website if you’re looking for inspiring and well-crafted patterns to dive into.
